The Victorian Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) has launched a Food Delivery Riders Road Rules Campaign to help food delivery riders better understand Victorian road rules and stay safe on our roads.
Food delivery riders are particularly vulnerable in traffic, and improving awareness of key road rules can make a meaningful difference to rider safety, as well as the safety of other road users. These resources are designed to support riders using bicycles, e-bikes, motor scooters, and motorbikes.
The campaign focuses on simple but important reminders, including:
- Riding on the road rather than footpaths
- Stopping at red lights and stop signs
- Pulling over before using a mobile phone
- Checking that an e-bike is legal before renting or buying
